Old Wives' Tales: Is It A(nother) Girl Or A Boy?

Can Old Wives' Tales Predict Whether This Bump Is A Boy Or A Girl?

What do you reckon? Is this slightly squint bump a girl or a boy?

I know the answer this time around (nope, still not telling) and, you know: the usual disclaimers about the sex not being important, children being free from gender traits until we instil them in them etc etc. But I thought it would be fun to find out what the old wives' tales make of this pregnancy: can they (unlike last time) correctly predict the sex?

The Bump

I'm carrying so low that I can't wear jeans. That means: IT'S A BOY
My bump sticks out to the front, rather than to the sides: IT'S A BOY
If my linea negra stopped closer to my belly button, they'd reckon a girl; if it was closer to my ribs, a boy. In fact, I don't have one this time. At all. Even when I pull the bump up and have a good squint in the mirror: INCONCLUSIVE

How I'm Looking

Ah, lovely soft, smooth, irresistible-to-midges skin (THE ITCHING! THE ITCHING!!!!!!): IT'S A GIRL
Ooh, thick (tangled) hair which covers my scalp: IT'S A BOY
For the first time in living memory, my boobs are the same size. However, as with last time, the one on the left did start leaking first so I'm going to plump for: IT'S A GIRL
My areolae have darkened: IT'S A BOY
My legs aren't swollen but my feet do get a bit puffy in the evenings, if I don't prop them up on my yoga ball. Does that count? Let's say yes: IT'S A BOY

How I'm Feeling

Give me all the sugar! IT'S A GIRL
Morning sickness? Nope, not me: IT'S A BOY
Lovely, toasty, warm feet! IT'S A GIRL
Blinding headaches? I had a few early on: IT'S A BOY
And as for my moods, HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST I MIGHT BE THE TEENSIEST BIT CRANKY?! Hmm... okay... IT'S A GIRL

The Baby

In the scan photos, its lower jaw looks rounded: IT'S A GIRL
On the doppler, its heartbeat doesn't sound like a train (boy) or a horse (girl); it's heartbeat sounds like a T.A.R.D.I.S: IT'S A TIMELORD

Miscellaneous Nonsense

My age at conception (38) plus the month of conception (2) add up to an even number. Well, this sounds scientific: IT'S A BOY
Steve hasn't put on any weight. I mean, come on! IT'S A BOY
I sleep on my left side (a boy!) and my right side (a girl!) and my back (I'm a terrible person!). Who are these freaky people who don't move around in bed?!: INCONCLUSIVE

The Final Tally

IT'S A GIRL: 6
IT'S A BOY: 9
INCONCLUSIVE: 3

Well, the old wives are definitely leaning boywards this time, but what do you think? Is it a leg-puffing lad in there or another rule-bending lass?
