Extra: Ordinary Moments

Silhouetted branches against a dusky sky
Asparagus and rice soup
Happy mug and chocolate wrappers
Black cat, Gizmo, chasing his own tail

The festivities kicked off this week as our friend, Bruce, came round for a "mini Christmas" before jetting off to visit first his family in Dundee and then his girlfriend and cat in Paris. In a slight muddling of winter traditions, we had haggis, neeps and tatties for dinner. But also mince pies.

In a break from my usual read-them-in-the-order-they-were-bought approach, I chose Landline by Rainbow Rowell* from my Kindle list entirely at random, only to discover that it's set the week before Christmas! I'll talk about it more in my next big books round up but, for now: it's one I would very much recommend.

And, otherwise, I haven't been up to anything at all much. Tell me: what's new with you?

  1. I'm reading a Rainbow Rowell book too and I really like it.

  2. I've never heard of Rainbow Rowell, but I'm definitely on the lookout for new books!

  3. I don't want to call it lightweight (because there were loads of emotions in that book) but it would be easy to read if you were feeling sleepy... :)

  4. I'm finally feeling like myself again (apart from some pretty ugly coughing fits) so I'm planning a couple of days of eating too much chocolate, drinking too much wine, reading all the books and hanging out with my mum and step-mum (and my step-mum's evil mother, but one can't have everything). Happy Christmas!

  5. Sounds lovely! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

  6. Ok so that book is now on my to read list. Her other books sound interesting too.

  7. Her others are all on my wishlist now.

Please play nice.
