Books in the Sky: The University of Aberdeen's New Library

Library exterior
Over the weekend, I had a chance to visit the University of Aberdeen's new library. The ultra-modern building has had a mixed response around the city, but I quite like it - this is not a city known for bold, experimental architecture so I rather enjoyed seeing something so striking and new.

  1. That stairwell-lookin' opening to the ceiling is super cool! And the view is beautiful. Great photos.

  3. Love these pictures! I always make a point of popping into libraries when I visit new places. :)

I can see how this kind of modern architecture might not fit in with some of the other buildings in the city, but you can freeze a place in time forever. The old and new need to learn to coexist!

  4. Well put! In a hundred years, I wonder if people will look back on the library as a great example of *our* period's architecture, just as we do with the Victorian buildings today.
